Crocodile Pliers - 3 sizes

The Crocodile pliers are made for Fly Fishing. As the image above illustrates, each part of this tool was created to address a need in Fly Fishing - Crimping bards, cutting mono or tippet, attaching hooks to the line (locking a small fly in the croc jaws when tying a clinch-Knot makes it much easier), and most importantly a way to remove the fly from the fish without shredding it. The unconventional look of the Crocodile jaws and the thin arms leading up to them are what make this tool so exceptional for Fly Fishing, especially dry fly. Check out the image at right again. Those teeth, and the curved shape of the arms around the teeth allow the Angler to reach around the body of the fly and grab the body of the hook - the curve, the shank of the hook. Then depending on the size of the fish either push the hook backwards out of the set-hole or turn the hooks curve towards the sky and let gravity help. This last method is illustrated below, both on a live fish and a mount.

6" 3-Click Lock Version - 1.90oz Colors: Red & Black msrp:$22.00

8.5" 3-Click Lock Version -3.20oz Colors: Red & Black msrp:$26.00

12" 3-Click Lock Version - 5.80oz Colors:Red & Black msrp:$34.00

Using the Crocs to release hooks easily: Click jaws around tippet, slide down until jaws nestle into shank of hook, then continue motion to remove hook. The interior diameter of the Croc Jaws dictates what size fly an angler can release, for larger flies use the Croc 8.5" or 12".
