Pro Staff Shout Out:

Dr Bob

Pro Since: 2004

They'd be his go to pair from our arsenal. The oversize finger loops would be appreciated, as would the tapered magnetic tips. And the name, that may have elicited a small smile - once.

Proper Use

The Release

Our lippa4Life takes care of controlling the fish, and for the many the Bob's Tactical Scissors, curved or straight, solve the problem of controlling the hook - because of the properly portioned finger loops, balance, and length. We always advocate clamping down on the shank of the hook and pushing the bend towards the sky. Gravity and a de-barbed hook do the rest and the fish falls off the hook. Hooks with barbs require little more muscle power, but the concept is the same.

Bobs Tactical Scissors - straight & curved

Our tribute to our fishing mentor

The only thing that could be better about Bob's Tactical Scissors was if their namesake was still alive to use them. Dr Bob, or Dr Rothwell was here to watch us start Rising from the dirt, and was more than happy to test the early versions of the Ultralight, Work, Crocodile, and the Nippas - but we were too late introducing these. Our loss.

That said, these are great pliers, and he would have loved them. Loved the oversize thumb and finger loops, loved the sharp precision serrated scissors, and the smooth tips that make de-barbing small hooks easy. He'd dig the grips too, but being old school would have probably opted for the black handle, knowing of course that if he lost them he would get another pair driven over that night. So who needs an easy to see red handle in a situation like that! It's nice knowing that our improvements over the traditional hemostat design would have been appreciated, and judging form our sales last year it is apparent that other anglers out there feel the same way - let's only hope that those anglers take the time to take small children fishing and have the patience to help them progress through tangled lines, fish-less days, and mediocre drifts...

Notice the leatherman where the Lippa4Life should go in our holster, or maybe notice the big-ass bear to the left of her ! That's angling ! Studio shot is not quite as dramatic, needs a bear.
